• Red, White and Blue

Happy Fourth of July! Here is a quick timelapse of the local fireworks.

Check out my neighbors flying their flags.

  • Centre County Celebrates Christmas

Homes and business in Bellefonte, Howard, Milesburg, and Boalsburg are decked out for the holidays.

  • Christmas on the Susquehanna

My cousin decided to celebrate a milestone birthday in the town of Havre de Grace, at the mouth of the Susquehanna on the Chesapeake Bay. In late November, I traveled to the town and stayed at the Vandiver Inn, which was decorated for Christmas on the post-Thanksgiving weekend.

Here are some looks at the outside of the Inn, which consists of the main mansion and several surrounding houses which have been converted to guest rooms and event space.

My cousin has quite a good eye for photography. Here are some of her shots.

  • Late Winter Sets the Scene for Spring

It now feels more like Spring in Chester County, although the calendar still says it’s Winter. The weather, however, can’t seem to make up its mind. We start with a few scenes around Kimberton.

Further east, I’m not sure what these critters are. They may be llamas or alpacas.
I loved the golden hour glow on this house.
At this house, it is apparently still Christmas.
  • Because I Couldn’t Resist

Although I said “no post” for this weekend, I recently got a chance to see the property known as the “West Chester Griswolds.” Enjoy this over the top holiday light display,

  • Townie Christmas Sights

I would like to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas and remind you that peace and tolerance will not continue to flourish if good people do nothing and allow evil and greed to go unchecked.

Next weekend the blog will be taking the weekend off for the holiday. In the meantime, have a look at my town, which has some of the best Christmas lights in eastern Chester County and has been previously featured here. I’ve added some new shots this year.

    These trees look new.

  • Getting in the Christmas Spirit

Driving around my local neighborhoods demonstrates that some homes still make an effort with Christmas decorations. Here are some of my favorites from early December.

  • Merry Christmas

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. My wish for the New Year would be for everyone to remember this: The only way for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing. The side of peace and tolerance is always the right one.

  • A Crowing Good Towanda Evening

On my way to dinner, I had a chance to photograph some of the great buildings in the town of Towanda, the county seat of Bradford County on a Labor Day weekend. This town has some beautiful Victorian homes, some of which have been repurposed into businesses. This place could be a movie set.

This theater really takes you back.
    The county courthouse.
Lovely preserved diner, sadly up for sale, with a great Route 6 sign.
    Love this giant rooster.
  • Happy Holidays

I will be taking a break for a couple weeks to celebrate Christmas and my birthday. Here is a look back at some Christmas pasts.

I think this says it all.
This neighbor is really in the Christmas spirit.

My town makes a great collective effort with the Christmas lights.
